A pretty 2 bedroom well equipped stone cottage in the Southern Vendee, close to Lucon, surrounded by rolling countryside with fields of Sunflowers and is ideally situated for the superb beaches of the Vendee coastline, many of which are all only 20/30 minutes away. This area has the reputation for being one of the sunniest regions in France after the Cote d'Azur with good weather enjoyed from April to late October and close to picturesque La Rochelle and popular resorts such as La Tranche sur Mer and Les Sables D'Olonne. Puy du Fou, Futuroscope and the Brandy houses of Cognac are all easy day trips.

The kitchen has a full size gas cooker and fridge, a microwave, a double sink with drainer, plenty of storage and is well equipped with crockery, cutlery/utensils, bowls and pans. Washing machine and tumble dryer are available on request. The dining room is separate from the kitchen and has a Pine table and chairs, seating for 6, Welsh dresser and drawer unit

Living area. The lounge has a comfortable 3 seater sofa which can be used as a double sofa bed if required, armchair, loads of books and games, TV with DVD, video. The original stone walls have been renovated to retain much of the French character.

Bedrooms. The Master bedroom is spacious and has a double bed and will accommodate another single bed or cot if required, bedside tables and storage. The second bedroom has bunk beds and drawer unit. A cot and high chair are available should you require them and stair-gate for added security for the younger children.

Bathroom and Toilets. The family bathroom is on the ground floor and has a shower, hand-basin, W.C.

Garden and outdoor facilities. A 28 ft swimming pool, also a paddling pool for the tiny ones. The garden is a third of an acre, well maintained with many mature fruit trees (help yourself if any fruit is ripe), garden table and chairs, sun parasol, BBQ. You will also find garden games.

Miscellaneous. A welcome pack will be in the gite for your arrival. Linen will be provided with exception of swimming towels. Lucon is a 5 minutes drive away, where you will find plenty of shops, hypermarkets and restaurants, there is a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Location. Golden safe sandy beaches are approx 20/30 mins by car.The area is only three hours drive from the port of St. Malo, 4.5 hours from Ouistream (Caen) and 5.5 hrs from Cherbourg. Nearest Airports are La Rochelle, Poitiers & Nantes and are served by most of the low cost airlines and car hire is available at these airports.

Activities. La Tranche and Les Sables d'Olonne are but two of the many beaches. La Rochelle is a pretty port town with great aquarium to visit and plenty of good restaurants. La Roche sur Yon is worth a visit if you like shopping, as is Fontenay le Comte with its chateau. Close by there are the waterways of the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), where you can take out a boat on your own or with a guide. There are several theme parks, including Puy de Fou which offers a great medieval day out for the whole family with exceptional falconry displays. If you are a wine drinker, you should visit the local wine town of Mareuil sur Lay. There are beautiful garden in Lucon, le Jardin Dumesn and Court d'Aron, where they have a large lake covered with lotus flowers in July and August. If you like to be active there are plenty of sport and other activities, including golf, fishing, and horses riding, boating and swimming, all within easy reach. At Brem sur Mer there is a place well worth a visit, where the only power used is you-power. Yes, that's right, you have to make all the things go.
