A typically French 3 bedroom terraced house in the centre of Mervent village, surrounded by 5000 hectares of forest and lake. 15 min's from the historic town of Fontenay-le-Comte. Close to the West coast of France, 45 mins from the long sandy Atlantic beaches of La Tranche, picturesque La Rochelle and Les Sable D'Olonne home of the Vendee Globe.

The kitchen is fully fitted and very well equipped; it has Cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, plenty of storage, work surfaces. The farmhouse table seats 4 to 6. There is a large utility room containing a washing machine and Tumble dryer and is large enough for you to keep you cycles if you have brought them with you.

Living area. The lounge has 2 very comfortable sofa's and armchair, inset wood burning stove, the exposed beams are spectacular having been cut from a living tree complete with fork, you just have to see it!! There is a Hifi player but No TV, so you can have a very restful break.

Bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed, Wardrobe, bedside tables and drawer unit, the 2nd bedroom also has a double bed, drawer unit, bedside tables and hanging space. Bedroom 3 has a ¾ size bed but could sleep two if required. Bedside tables, drawer unit, hanging space and a hand basin with mirror above.

Bathroom and Toilets. The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a full size bath, toilet and shower cubical, Hand basin with mirrored bathroom cabinet for the suntans creams.

Garden and outdoor facilities. There is a pretty Patio and garden to the rear of the property, south-facing and enjoys the sun most of the day. This is a bit of a suntrap. Garden furniture and sun loungers to laze in the sunshine. The BBQ is the original ‘Potage'

Miscellaneous. If you want the real French experience then this house offers all that is truly French. It is a bit like a Tardis and the pictures do not give you a feel of the space.

This area in the Vendee is approx. 3 hours drive from the port of St. Malo. 4 hours from Ouistream (Caen) and 4 ½ hours from Cherbourg.

Location. The house is in the beautiful village of Mervent in the centre of the Mervent-Vouvant forest. Enjoy the facilities of a manmade lake, well known for its lake side beach ideal for swimming, sailing and windsurfing. There are 2 restaurants, where you can sample the traditional French foods. There is also a Chateau which is open as a crêperie.

Activities. Popular hypermarkets LeClerc and Hyper U and a range of shops are to be found in Fontenay. Visit the Chateau Terre Neuve and the Saturday market or just walk along the banks of the river Vendee. Just a few minutes away are a small Zoo and the Parc Pierrie Brune, ideal for children. There is an adventure park for the adults where you can try your hand on an assault course or experience Paintball. The forest itself is ideal for Walking and Cycling and has many Picnic areas for those all important rest stops. Futuroscope, Puy du Fou and the Brandy houses of Cognac all easy day trips! This area has the reputation for being one of the sunniest regions in France and close to the West coast and roughly an hours driver to the picturesque La Rochelle, La Tranche sur Mer and Les Sables D'Olonne.
