Large Pool

The 3 bedroom house, an Inland retreat, sitting in the heart of the Vendeen Bocage Nr Pouzauges set in about 1 acre of land with a small river running across the bottom of the garden. There are good roads from whichever direction you choose to come, be it from Calais, Le Harvre, Caen, Cherbourg, St. Malo or Roscoff . It is close to the West coast of France. Picturesque La Rochelle and popular resorts such as La Tranche sur Mer and Les Sables d'Olonne.

The kitchen has all the amenities, dish washer, fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, washing machine, all the things that you would expect to find; it is well equipped with cutlery pots pans etc. The double window looks out to the front of the house where there is ample parking for several cars.

Living area. Large sunny lounge, with dining area. A large pine table and seating for 8, there is an English Sat TV and DVD/CD player. 2 sofas and armchair, the great thing about this lounge is the 2 French windows leading on to the raised terrace with stunning views on to the garden and beyond. The are plenty of books and games.

Bedrooms. There are 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin room, both double rooms have wardrobes, drawers and bedside tables, the twin room has drawers and bed side table. Additionally there is a further room off the kitchen that has a very comfortable double sofa bed

Bathroom and Toilets. A large family bathroom with bath and shower over, very large double vanity unit with mirror plus a freestanding wall unit for all those toiletries and sun creams. One of the toilets is in this room and the other separate toilet and hand basin is in the entrance hall.

Garden and outdoor facilities. There is an acre of garden with mature trees and a fish-able stream/river running through the bottom of the garden. Large south facing balcony overlooking garden, river and open country side. Here you will find the private swimming pool, 9 x 6 meter, fully fenced with self closing gate and for your sole use. Garden furniture and BBq. Games room with Table Tennis, Pool Table and electronic safety darts board.

Miscellaneous. Free Wireless broadband internet access available. The local area is peaceful and offers many attractive villages / towns to explore, along with miles and miles of open country side and forest, plenty of picturesque walks can be found near by. The nearest airports are Nantes, La Rochelle or Poitiers and it is possible to hire cars from them for the period of your stay.

Location. The closest village is La Meilleraie Tillay, this has a small shop, bar, post office, children's play area, Boulangerie, tennis club, library etc. Pouzauges is the closest town, with all the usual amenities, supermarket, local shops, swimming pool, swimming and fishing lake, Close by is the village of Vouvant situated high on a hill on a bend of the river Mere, this is one of the most picturesque villages in France, it has stout defensive walls from which you can look down on to the meandering waterway below. Nearby is a swimming and recreation lake, and the Mervent forest, with walks, cycle tracks and picnic areas. Further a field are the towns of Fontenay, Niort, Nantes and La Rochelle

Activities The area abounds with places to visit, including castles, waterways and the coast. Puy du Fou is a must. During the day there are all manner of activities including Roman Amphitheatre and games, Viking invasion, Mediaeval Tournament and spectacular falconry show. The evening "son et lumière" show depicting the history of the Vendee by actors and local residents with a spectacular back drop of the ruined chateaux.
Evening show needs to be booked in advance in summer. Futuroscope, Puy du Fou & Cognac all easy day trips! La Rochelle and the Atlantic coast with long sandy beaches approx. 1 hour by car
