Sleeps 8/10 people in four bedrooms and is in a superb position, Private heated swimming pool set in a large garden. The kitchen. Fully fitted open-plan kitchen and dining room, very and well equipped including cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, large oak table and chairs.
Living area. The lounge/ Sitting room with a comfortable double sofa bed, armchairs sofa, armchairs, TV (BBC channels) and wood burning stove (for colder months). Patio windows leading to the spacious terrace, swimming pool and then to the gardens
Bedrooms.The Master bedroom has a double bed and en-suite facilities. Bedroom 2 with double bed plus en-suite facilities. Bedroom 3 with bunk bed and pullout mattress. Bedroom 4 with bunk bed and pullout mattress.
Toilet and ablutions. The main bedroom is en-suite with toilet and wash hand basin. The second double bedroom is also en-suite with WC, wash and basin and shower. Downstairs there is a family bathroom with a toilet, wash hand basin, bath and shower.
Garden and outdoor facilities.The large well kept garden is an acre and has plenty of room for games such as badminton and other ball sports. There is also a kitchen garden with fruit trees. The private swimming pool is heated and has a secure fence around it. Adjacent to the pool is a dining area with a retractable awning for sun protection and there are sun loungers and a barbecue.
Miscellaneous.Futuroscope, Puy du Fou & Cognac all easy day trips! La Rochelle and the Atlantic coast with long sandy beaches. There are good roads from whichever direction you choose to come, be it from Calais, Le Harvre, Caen, Cherbourg, St. Malo or Roscoff. The nearest airports are Nantes, La Rochelle or Poitiers and it is possible to hire cars from them for the period of your stay. Ferry Ports - 4 hours drive from St Malo and 5½ from Le Havre. Airports - 1 hour from La Rochelle airport and 1½ hours from Poitiers.
Location. The area is the Niortaise area of the Deux Sevres in Poitou-Charente. Nearby is the beautiful Venise Vert with its secret canals and waterways, ideal to explore by boat or cycle. The fortified village of Vouvant is regarded as one of the prettiest villages in France with its surrounding wall. For the more adventurous holidaymakers there is fishing at our lake or also Pescalis, GoApe (Accrobranche - tree assault course which is great for kids) at Vouvant, horse riding in Coulonges, rowing at Coulon on the marshes of the Marais Poitevin, body boarding at Ile de Re and cycling. Day trips to Saumur, Chinon, Parthenay and Poitiers will be of interest to those in search of culture (or wine).
Activities. Mervent activity park(Pierre Bruin) and forest is a short distance, and provides lakes for swimming, fishing and boating. There are many historic houses and chateaux in the area. Horse riding, tennis and swimming in Coulonges, where you can also visit the lively and very busy Tuesday market, supermarket, bank, shops and restaurant. . The Atlantic coast is to the west, with its fine beaches, Isle de Ré is well worth a visit, but charges a higher toll in peak season! La Tranche-Sur-Mer to the north west is only 1 and a half hours drive, very wooded and Les Sables d'Olonne is a step further (about 2 hours drive).
To the north is the lovely medieval town of Parthenay. Here you can swim in the large outdoor pool or fish in the lakes. There is a restaurant and bar overlooking the lake, tennis, crazy golf, boating, and a lovely spot for a countryside walk. Puy du Fou is a must. During the day there are all manner of activities including Roman Amphitheatre and games, Viking invasion, Mediaeval Tournament and spectacular falconry show. The evening "son et lumière" show depicting the history of the Vendee by actors and local residents with a spectacular back drop of the ruined chateaux.
