A stunning luxury conversion, this lovely gite is over two hundred years old, with oak beams and tiled floors downstairs and with every modern facility. Situated between La Chataignerie and St Hilaire de Voust on the southern border of the Vendee, an area renown for it's own micro climate making it popular and ideal for walking, cycling, bird-watching or just relaxing. Close to Mervent forest, La Rochelle and the long sandy beaches of the Atlantic coastline.

The kitchen. This is a modern kitchen/diner with a newly fitted kitchen units, beachwood work surfaces and ample storage cupboards, Large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher. Very well equipped with pots, pans and cooking utensils. The large farmhouse table has seating for 8 plus. The washing machine, iron/ironing board are in the separate Utility room. French doors opening out to the patio, pool and gardens.

Living area. 3 large comfortable sofa's one of which is double sofa bed. SatelliteTV with freeview, DVD player and music centre, There is a Log burner and this house has full central heating. Oak beams and staircase rising to the upper floor.

Bedrooms. The very large master bedroom has a kingsize bed and en-suite shower room, very light and airy with views over the garden and pool, full size cot. 2nd double bedroom with similar views. Bedroom 3 is a family room with a double bed, bunk beds and en-suite shower room. All the bedrooms have storage units.

Bathrooms and Toilets. Both of the en-suite bathrooms have shower units, wash hand basins and toilets. Additionally on the ground floor there is a Large bathroom with bath/shower over, toilet and hand basin. Also a separate toilet with sink.

Garden and outdoor facilities. All grounds are south facing ensuring sun early morning to late at night, private and enclosed. Large picnic bench near to the kitchen for outside eating and gas barbecue. 3 hammocks, 2 parasols and plenty of reclining chairs for use around the pool. Golf clubs and bikes available to use free of charge. The large garden has plenty of room for a full size football pitch. The 10mx5m Pool is private and partially enclosed and decked and has an automatic cover for safety when not in use and has night lighting if required.

Miscellaneous. Tiled floors and luxury natural wood finishes throughout. All services are included i.e. water heating & electricity. Bed linen is included but not towels. Child safety/stair gate. The nearest village of La Chapelle Aux Lys has a bar and you can buy your bread 3km. L'Absie, a larger village, has a bank, patisserie, grocers and is 4km. St Hilaire de Voust has a good restaurant and bar, patisserie 4km. In La Chataignerie you will find a large Super U and general town facilities 20 minutes.

Location. Golden safe sandy beaches are approx 45 mins by car. The area is only 3 hours drive from the port of St. Malo, 4 hours from Ouistream (Caen) and 5.5 hrs from Cherbourg]. Nearest Airports La Rochelle, Poitiers & Nantes are served by most of the low cost airlines and car hire is available at these airports.

Activities. A couple of golf courses are available within an hours drive. Fishing at Pescalis is 10 minutes away. Tree climbing, canoeing can be found at Mervent. You are well placed for a variety of places to visit, probably the most impressive being the Puy du Fou and Futuroscope guaranteed to keep both children and adults entertained ! Around 20 minutes from the Vouvant-Mervent forest where the pretty villages of Mervent and Vouvant nestled in the large surrounding forest and is crisscrossed with well marked routes for walking and cycling. Many of the villages and towns have regular weekly markets where you can sample a wealth of local produce, freshly caught fish and a variety of shell fish. La Rochelle, less than an hours drive boasts some of the best restaurants for seafood and has a spectacular aquarium, The beaches of La Tranche sur Mer and the seaside town of La Sable D'Olonne are well worth a visit as is Ile de Re.
